The post man just delivered me a new stainless/synthetic the other day

Unfortunately, I've been too busy to shoot it yet though

I bought two boxes of factory ammo and have a couple handload recipes to try soon!
Initial impressions:
-love the action. its very strong looking and quite smooth.
-the stock fits quite well, better than the previous model "boat paddle" hollowed out numbers. Its noisy though when brushed up against anything. It also seems to amplify action noise if that makes any sence..
-I really like the hinged floor plate. The lock up is precise and the release is skookum and I can't see an accidental release happening very easily!
-the trigger has about 1/8" of take up, then a quite crisp release albeit with a pretty heavy pull. I've definitely shot/hunted with worse and will try things out stock. I do see plans for a timney or other improvement down the road.
-I like the factory rings! all steel and the mounting system seems strong as hell..
-weight is listed at 7lbs minus a scope and it certainlly feels nice and light to me.
So there's some initial observations from a Ruger rookie. All in all I'm quite happy with it and will be more than satisfied if it shoots well which I will be getting to toot sweet. I'll be mounting a Burris Fullfield 3-9 on it for trials hopefully tomorrow.
