Ruger M77 Target, Delay Fire

I have a Ruger M77 in a 6 Remington and 1 mabey 2 rounds out of 5 I get the old squezze click 2 seconds BOOM! Mabey do I need to change out the main spring or is it a sear enganment issue?

I just dont know was woundering if anyone could help?

It is a adjustable trigger, sear, travel and weight.

Also on those primers the strike is light.

"...click 2 seconds BOOM..." That indicates bad primers or bad powder. I'd pull 'em all and start over.
"...rounds are hand loads..." Your's or somebody else's? If they're your's, how old are the primers? How old is the powder?
Do not shoot other people's reloads. Ever.
 
The primers? Bougth 1000 at a sporting goods store. I have used them before and it seemed to work fine. Same lot. This is just a recent occurance. Never thought of trying different components. Ill have to try some different ones. Thanks. They are my hand loads. The powder is Varget and my brother shoots it out of his 223 (same can) and has no problem, it aslo happens with my other load same primers different powder (4064). It did seem to get worse in colder temperatures
 
Mechanically, it could be the aforementioned crud, a weak striker spring (common), or insufficient overtravel in the trigger.
Cleaning will cure the first, replacement, the second, and adjustment the third. Regards, Bill
 
Is the primer strike close to the middle of the primer?

I saw one Ruger where the firing pin was half way off center and it consistently had problems until Ruger supplied a new bolt... it worked with factory loads and had problems with reloads.

Yes it is in the center, not perfect, but there.

Took the bolt apart tonight and found some ball powder in the firing pin channel. Also the was half the Bald Headed Praire up in there. Hasnt been taken apart since Ruger put it together. I will try it a the range next week. I also notice a difference in lock time and the pin exturded out of the hole more now that there is no, what ever that was, holding it back.


HOLY S%^T WAS THAT THING DIRTY!!!!!:eek:
