Ruger M77 trigger

I have a new model 77 in .300WSM that is a great shooter ( several sub M.O.A. 5 shot groups). However, it suffers from about a 15 lb. C.Y.A. trigger used by manufacturers to keep lawyers at bay. I think I will be able to get even better groupings and improved field accuracy if I can do something with the trigger. In the past, I have used a Timney after market on other makes but forget whether this is a DIY job or needs a gunsmith. Any suggests/opinions from those with similar experience? I'm not after a target trigger, just a safe hunting trigger with reasonable let off.

If you are reasonably mechanical you could probably do a timney yourself, and a timney would be my choice. Good luck!

I have a timney in my mk-II 30-06. World of difference between the timney and the cruddy stock trigger.

I understand some minor stone work can improve things quite a bit. Of course the timneys and a few other aftermarket triggers work very well. pm sent.

I put Timneys on mine. You have to do a bit of stoning to get the safety to fit (they mark where) but otherwise drop in. . you can go anywhere form 2# (light for hunting purposes) to probably 5# with the original spring. breaks like glass
