As some of you have been following my posts i have been looking for a new pistol. Thank you so much for the info if you contributed.
The more i read into the matter of buyin an IDPA gun the more i realize i should wait and buy the gun i really want. By wait i mean a whole year till im finnish school. I will no longer have a low income and will be able to spend some serious cash and get the good one

So right now to cary me through the year and to teach my girlfiriend to shoot I am going to for sure this time buy a rimfire pistol this month.

Can anyone provide me with sellers that carry the new Mark III pistols?

Does anyone have a 22/45? I like the feel of a colt and think this might be my gun. Does yours have a polymer grip and how does it ballance?

Also considering a Buckmark camp pistol. Is this any better than the ruger?
Hows the ballance? I like the grip.

Or is the ruger so flawless i shouldnt look at others?

One more thing does anyone here on the board have good condition used ruger or BM for sale?
(ive got a CVA staghorn if you want to trade)
Thanks again for all the help. Ive got the IDPA rule book and have a place to set up the scenarios for practice. Im sure the year with a rimfire will help out greatly.

I have the old model 22/45 and it's quite a bit of fun. Runs good, pretty accurate, came with a rail for optics. Also had a MkII for a while but sold it and kept this one. Grip is smaller on the mkII and I liked the feel of the 22/45 better. It's a bit muzzle heavy but not bad. For $318 new it's hard to beat.

I've got the MKIII 22/45. I prefer the grip of the 22/45's to the regular MkIII's but that's simply personal preference. It's got the standard Ruger grips, which can't easily be changed (have to dremel the stock grips off and replace with 1911 grips) but other than being slim work just fine. Doesn't really feel like a 1911 but it's similar.

Balance is nice, with the short 4.5" barrel it's not front heavy. Never failes to fire or eject and and no 'stovepipe' problems, it's reliable as heck.

It's a bit of a pain to take apart and the instructions in the manual are wrong but once you get the hang of it, it's no big deal.

They can be had cheapest at wholesale sports for $310, but for a couple of bucks more you can get them at P&D for $325 (CGN sponsor). Extra mags are about $30.

I've held the Ruger Mark II, III, 22/45, and the Buckmark and I have to say that the Buckmark felt the best. I don't think that the Camper is the best version though. I recall reading that they have a plastic rear sight base that breaks easily. I was this close to picking up a used Buckmark 5.5 Target for $300. Didn't have my PAL yet, or the scratch. Kicking myself now.

I have a Mark II target, 6 7/8" barrel with adjustable sights & original grips. I would not trade this gun for all the tea in China. I have never had a problem with it and it will accept any .22LR I wish to feed it.

As for accuracy, I can group my shots much tighter with my Ruger than I can with my buddy's Buckmark, or with any of my other handguns for that matter.

Buy a Ruger and you won't be disappointed!!

I have the Browning Pro Target and two 22/45 mk111 s/s with 5 1/2 bull barrel.

The Browning from the factory required no work. Beautiful trigger, balances nicely and will shoot the X out the 10 ring all day. Nice target grips with thumb rest that fills the hand nicely. Balances perfectly in my hand. The probelm with the Camper model is that you have to remove the rear sight mounting plate every time you take the barrel off to give it a good cleaning.

The Ruger required some after market parts to reduce the trigger pull considerably. Even with the Volq. target tigger & sear the trigger is still a little sloppy, but light. It is also muzzle heavy with the plastic frame. The new grip is way to small for my hand. It may look like a 45, but it's a lot smaller grip than my 1911. On the plus side, it's just as accurate as my Browning Pro Target and blues barrel version will cost less , even with all of the after markets part installed
