I am new to the handgun world, I am goung to start out shooting a 22. I have a chance to buy a Ruger Mark II it has less then 100 rounds. The price is $275.00, I have looked at Mark III pricing it starts in the 320 range plus tax and freight. I am thinking $275.00 is a good deal. It is blue with a bull barrel

The MKII is a better choice than a MKIII, in my opinion. I'd pay more for a used MKII than I would for a new MKIII.

Maybe a stupid question, but why do you think the MKII is better then the MKIII??

I am contemplating buying a Ruger as my first handgun.

Mac 63, it has adjustable sights, right? If so, buy it!
Sleepless, the MK.3 has a mag safety that (from what I hear- my brother has one but I've yet to fire it) makes it's trigger less pleasant than the Mk.2 or 1. That and other lawyer inspired doodads have degraded it somewhat compared to it's predecessors.

He is probably referring to the extra safety features on the MKIII that are not on the MKII. Mag safety, internal locking system and loaded chamber indicator.

MK11 vs MK111

I have a MK3 hunter and a MK11 with bull barrel.
The 3 seems to need constant cleaning to function properly with target ammo. I may be mistaken but I've come to believe the loaded chamber indicator lets some of the pressure escape that is needed to cycle a slightly dirty gun.
The MK 11 will run all day on any ammo.

1st choice is the 2 every time for shooting. The 3 gets points for looks.

I have a 22/45 MK III and have owned several MK I's and MK II's. I have had no functioning isses with mine and the 3-dot fixed sights are decent. The trigger is no better or worse than any other stock ruger I have had. I dislike the mag safety and could care less about the loaded chamber indicator.

They are built like a brick ####house and will go for thousands of rounds with just a little tlc.

The clip loader looks like a great idea, I will be adding that to my list of must haves. I have decided to buy the Ruger, looks like a great place to start. I can see this gets addictive....thanks for all the input. I realy enjoy this site, I am new here and I can see there is a welth of knowlegde on CGN

My mkII has been flawless with almost all ammo and will shoot ragged holes from 25 yards (from the bench - i'm not that good) and you can get all kinds of accesories for it.
You can buy a better .22 pistol but your going to pay three times the cash

Does the auto loader work with MK 1 as well? Its states MK II and MK III.

It will not work with the Mk1 as the follower is on the wrong side.
Get a small wooden block and cut a hole through it, the correct size for the mag. This is what I did before I got the mag loader.
