I've taken the time to video myself stripping my Ruger Mark III. (I need someone to host it for me though
) Hopefully this helps all the new owners out there, this pistol can be an absolute cow to take apart the first time if you don't have someone there who knows the pistols to help out. After someone hosts the video, I'll make a few comments on why and what I am doing.
Here is a few pics for troubleshooting when your bolt won't come out after taking the mainspring housing out during the initial step of field stripping.
Here is the position of the hammer strut immediately after taking the mainspring housing out during the initial step of field stripping.
This is what happens when you try to take out the bolt with the barrel pointed downwards. The hammer stut gets stuck in this position by the pin shown, blocking the bolt from coming out of the gun.
This is how you want the hammer strut positioned when taking your bolt out. This way the hammer strut will clear the pin so the bolt will not be blocked. This is accomplished by pointing the pistol upwards right before removing the bolt.
