I was hoping someone might have some advice on how to get my Ruger MarkIII mags drop out easier when I hit the mag release? I currently have to press the button and also grab the bottom of the mag and pull it out, I would like it to drop out freely when the release button is pressed.

The ruger MK III and 22/45 have a magazine safety that prevents the gun from being fired when there is no magazine inserted. You have to remove it if you want the magazine to drop free.

Here's a video how.

Volquartsen also makes a spring loaded ejector for the mk iii that goes inside the frame. The 22/45 one looks like a pain in the arse, which is why i haven't gotten one. It's a mag floorplate replacement, $32 for each magazine.

Glue a lead weight to the baseplate....my MKII 22/45 doesn't drop free either, I think the mags are just too light...

Thanks mwjones, those were awesome videos, if the club I go to starts the "Pin Shoot" again, I will definitely come back and watch them again and do this upgrade.

Take it apart and then reassemble it. Do this three times. It should fix the problem.

You'll be so pissed off the mag not dropping free won't seem like an inconvenience anymore. :p
