Ruger Mark III or GSG 1911 ?

mind you rimfire is not as fun as centerfire.

I'm not sure I agree with that. I love my .45s (all 11 of them:D), but the last few times out to the range, my Colt 1911 .22 conversion and S&W model 17 have been getting a workout. They are as much fun as anything else I own. I've had a few different .22 pistols (ruger, sig), none of them held a candle to the two I have now. Don't know what the GSG is like, but I didn't like the Ruger.

How accurate would you rate the GSG 1911 out-of-the-box, compared to the MKIII? Primary use will be "casual" bullseye shooting. I was leaning towards the MKIII 22/45, but I do like the looks of the GSG better.

I will wait for a 1911 model. There are some more 1911 .22LR coming out or already there, might worth it to wait for next generations? Maybe "umarex made" Colt, Browning, AMC, Chiappa(not a lot of good recommendations on this one).

Ruger Mark III Target 5 1/2, and next year or in 2012, a 1911 22LR.

Thanks mmatt :D

As a first time buyer, I find this to be a triksy question. I already have a 22/45 and love it. Its got the 5.5" bull barrel and is a hoot to shoot. Having said that, I will be buying a GSG 1911 as well. I think the look, feel, and straight up ###yness says alot about this pistol. I was able to fondle one for a while and came away impressed with the fit/finish as well as the overall feel of the piece.
Between these two, I think you buy what tickles your fancy. Both seem to be decent pistols and I don't think you'll be displeased with either.
Cheers!

I am actually curious about the accuracy of the GSG compared to the Ruger also. I wonder if the GSG 1911 could hold its own in a bullseye league or is it more just for fun by yourself?

hi

i've a s&w 22a and gsg 1911

the s&w is reasonable accurate 4" 50 yds, easy to field strip, easy to get parts for
extra's: 2 mags, eagle sas III dropleg holster
price as tested $ 278
the gsg 1911 22lr 7" 25yds at 20 below not a good test and i'll hold jugement till it warms up
the barrel bushing inside was .616, barrel was .549........ .067 clearance
suggested clearance on 1911 sites suggest .0015 would be nice
i'm thinking that a ordered to fit bushing would extend barrel pin life and
tighten up the groups, reqires allen key to strip
extra's: 2 mags, ordered blackhawk cqc serpa carbon black holster 410003bk-r
price as tested $375

it seems the gun's i like are the one's i have to spend time and money on ,,,,,

s&w 617 now moved to top of wish list

luck

I fired the GSG for the first time over the weekend. A nice guy at the range had one and I was thinking about buying one around a month ago so I asked if I could shoot it.

My Ruger 22/45 would shoot circles around that thing. Mind you, the sights are adjustable and they were off. But the group I shot (off target) was a lot wider than im used to.
