Need a .22 pistols...I like these two. Pros and cons of each?

Ruger Mark III target or Ruger 22/45 Bull Barrel?

I prefer the target model. I don't like the grip angle on the 22/45.
I own two of the Ruger MKIII pistols (Hunter and target). If you're going this route, buy a stainless model!! I personally find my smaller 5 1/2" bull barrel target pistol one of my favourites. It's small enough you can use it for anything. Informal target, plinking and even some "tactical" style shooting. My only regret was not waiting and the stainless instead of blued.
Also the cheesy plastic hand grip on mine broke. I've been waiting over 2 years now for the Hogue grips I ordered.
Another consideration is the Browning. While I do love my Ruger MKIII pistols, I think the browning is a better target pistol. The trigger is better at least.

Well the price differnece is over $100 cheaper for the 22/45 compared to the Mark III target...my main "want" is a solid accurate pistol. Epoxy7...why get the stainless version over the blued? And I am wanting to get it in 5.5" barrel as well.
thats cause the 22/45 has more plastic. im was debating the same thing either the mark 3 or 4.5in 22/45, after shooting both at the range i like the feel and look of the 22/45 despite the plastic frame. the 22/45 shot a lot better for me. they use the same barrel and action so accuracy will be the same, just how comfortable are you with the grip will make one more accurate for you.

I bought the 22/45 w/5.5" barrel in blue, pocketed the savings and bought a carp-load of ammo. So far I've got over 2000 rounds through it with very few hiccups. My brother who shoots IDPA also likes it for the feel, weight. I have had a red-dot on it and it was a frikken laser beam!! Way too much fun!!
Whatever fits your hand best but you can't go wrong with the Ruger.

I am probably going to buy the MKIII Hunter with the 4.5 barel in stainles tommorow.I have had many MKII and like everyone of them but always seemed to sell them off for something else.This time i want this for keeps.

I prefer a stainless finish. It doesn't show scratches or dings as much as the blued. G96 really soaks into it, giving your firearm even more protection from the elements. Last but not least, I think the fit/finish is a bit better. I don't know if this is due to the finish differences or if they take a bit more care with the more expensive stainless versions. Where this makes a difference is with the assembly and disassemble. My stainless one is snug but you can separate the upper and lower with minimal force. The blued one requires a rubber mallet and a lot of force.
That being said the blued (black) one does look cool and you won't be seeing mine on the EE.
The hunter model. I like it, but anyone considering one should think about the sights it comes with. I had mine changed to regular partridge target sights and it was a huge improvement. For hunting the sights it comes with would be great. But they aren't that wonderful for target work. If you're planning on using this pistol for target work, then factor in the extra cost for changing the sights. Or chose another model.
Hi, I am totally new to the world of shooting. Taking my CSSMAF & CSSMAFAR soon. The instructor at the range offered me to try his MARK III to see if I would like pistol more over riffle, and I liked it....a lot!
He have the standard one, and since it's for target shooting only, I was wondering since MARK III will be my first pistol, if I should go with HUNTER, TARGET or COMPETITION. I like the stainless steel finish of them, and correct me if I am wrong, the main difference is in the sights?
I intend on keeping it because of the low cost ammos and to get later a pistol with more "punch"(like Colt 1911 i.e.). So if anyone have recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated.

Don't rule out the mark II as well. You can pick them up for less $ used on EE.
That's what I did. The one I have is excellent, it came with target grips, a reworked trigger and a volquartson muzzle brake.
I now have a red dot scope shotgun scope mounted on it and am very pleased.
I think the mark IIIs allow more easy scope mounting, and that is an advantage if you want a scope. I paid around $40.00 for my mount, and it was easy to install.
