having owned multiple mini's ( i just kept hoping they'd finally shoot well) and now owning a cz 858 from wolverine, go with the cz hands down. i shoot better groups at 100 with the cz's sights and cheap surp ammo than i could at 100 with any mini i owned with handloads and scopes. as they say there are two happy days in a mini owners life, the day he buys it & the day he sells it

CZ All the way! I got one and love it to bits. Wolverine and marstar both have them non-restricted, for similar prices, with different accessories. I'd go with the wolverine, as I don't see a massive benefit from the chrome lined barrel (yes, it will still rust, I clean my rifles anyways so I don't care if it'll resist the rust an extra 4 hours), plus I like having the bayo and the 4 extra 5/30 rd mags. Just me...

Only ONE reason wht I would get the Mini-14 and that is because the A-Team used them, or at least the AC556 version.

I Have The Mini 30 And The Cz858-2 The Cz Is More Accurate Than The Mini But The Mini Comes With Rings And Is Easier To Scope If Thats What You Want.cz Will Consistantly Shoot 1.5 5 Shot Groups Clean And Not Hot.the Mini Will Do 3 Inchs.the Mini Is Stainless The Cz Is A Non Chrome Bore.the Ammo Is Norinco Silver Box.if You Are In A Wet Climate The Mini In Stainless Is More$ But Worth It.it Is Easy To Clean And Wear Is Almost Not Noticed After 3000 Rounds Through Mine.the Cz Is Showing More Wear With Only 1000 Rounds Through Her.not Serious Wear!i Find The Mini To Be A Little More Handy When Hiking Due To Shorter Mags Etc.

...I believe poster is after a non-restricted rifle. Just checked Marstars site and only the VZ-58s [mil-spec barrel] is offered from what I could see and that one is Restricted. I have heard of the non-restricted version with a chromed bore, anyone know where to buy??

They're out of stock. Last time I checked, the vZ-58L page is no longer up, although some of the image links still worked.

Bang on .. if I can find a NON restricted chrome lined CZ I would definately be interested .. until someone can show me the way, I'll have to plan for the mini30 .. which is still fine I'd be happy with a 3" grouping at 100 as I'll just be plinking mostly with this rifle..

marstar had a vz58L (non restricted chrome lined) for a while but it appears they are sold out but if you search for vz58L you may find someone else who has one

With the max being 5 rounds anyways why not look for a VZ 52/57 ???

52/57 is an excellent rifle you could also get a vz52 chamber inserts are readily available to convert those to 7.62x39 and the accuracy is still supposed to be good
