After two years of consideration, I finally made the plunge and got an AR 15 flash hider installed on my Mini 14:

The story: I had bought this rifle in fall '08 and I had become interested in installing a flash hider, like the GB series, something I felt that all Mini 14s should have. However, I was unable to find any muzzle breaks at the time that would fit the 580 series, and I wanted something that was better quality than those slip-on versions. Ultimately, I decided on having the front sights set back and having the muzzle threaded for an AR 15-style flash hider, and decided on the more traditional A1/A2 style flash hider.

I was able to score one for free from a member who had previously removed it from a Norinco CQ-A M4 clone.

Thanks to Weber and Markin Gunsmiths in Kelowna, the project is now reality.

I plan to leave it stock other than the obvious modification, and no, it is not for sale...

But, but that just makes the Ruger Mini-14 rifle even more evil. The NDP & Liberals are going to be mad at you.

I like it.

The next and final stage in the project will be find a clamp-on AR 15 bayonet lug and refit it for use with this rifle to put it more in line with the GB series.
