Hey guys, I don't own one, so I'm asking purely out of curiosity. Also this may instigate a bit of a flame but...........:stirthepot2:

Is the Mini 14 really a black rifle? If so, what makes it so, compared to its competitors and others in this black rifle class, isn't it "a little plain toast" Is there many accessories to make it "black"

Not trying to offend, or insult the firearm, I am sure it is a quality product.

I seen some done up minis which look and shoot well. But its not a black rifle.
Besides what else is there available in semi non-restricted under $1000 in 223 ?
(no reds)

I suppose it can be considered a black rifle. Why wouldn't it be? Is it because it doesn't have that uber-cool coolaid look of modern rifles?

if it was, would we have to deal with ninja farmers?

My idea of a 'black' rifle is one with a large (banana if you will) magazine, Pistol grip, and predominantly black features. Most semi autos can be made to look this way with enough after market support. But the one that come with these features stock are IMHO the 'true' black rifles.
However I think the term 'black rifle' is more of a media/anti 'buzz word' such as Semi auto assault rifle, sniper rifle and high capacity magazine.

A rose by any other name.

Well, speaking in a literal sense, As long as you go for the synthetic stock or invest in a can of spray-on bedliner....

It's not a Black rifle it's a miniaturized battle rifle and one that's a pretty old style.
I mean the stock being a chassis for the rifles pretty outdated.

Don't forget "High-power Rifle" and "Modern Firearm".

Modern firearm? The 1911 is celebrating its 100th Birthday! When the gun is older that anyone you know how can you call it modern! :slap:
