Hey cgn'rs

I want to buy a MINI 14 but am not sure wich to get

A. Blued/wood stock

B. Stainless/syntetic stock

I know it may be a prefferance thing but just want to hear some feed back

Thanks

I hear ya. Always wanted one and whenever I try to choose between the two I end up wanting both....which is basically the old A-Team gun. A stainless barrelled action with wooden folder stock. An old doctor friend I know has one like that and whenever I ask if he'd sell it to me he just says 'sure.....but you won't be able to afford it'. The crusty old bugger won't tell me how much, but I'm sure he'd price it out of the park!

The stainless/synth is far better for bush beating. If it will sit in the safe and take the odd trip to the range, it really doesn't matter. I have the stainless and dropped it into a BC aluminum folding stock. I always take it camping. Fits in my duffle bag when folded.

I really don't get why so many people are so attracted to Mini 14/30.. I'm sure not for its looks, reliability is not that great either, so then what is it..?? Why not take an 858 or Su 16..

Give me a minute let me put a flame suit on :)

reliability is not that great either,

This statement proves you don't own one or maybe never even shot one. I have had 2 of these rifles and have shot 10,000 rounds out of them. They never fail...ever...

Say whatever you want about the Mini-14/30 but suggesting that it lacks reliability just radiates your ignorance...

I have 858's AR's and and hk's The mini 14 is probably the most reliable rifle made in my experience of 20 sorting years of shooting. Plus they are fun as hell

yep, there it is! that's the one I want! I have the blued/wood Ranch rifle. I traded off my target stainless model for it (was too muzzle heavy). Please, someone tell me where I can get that folding stock! Stainless or blued, it don't matter.

I have never had an issue with a mini-14 beening reliable. Now the CZ858 has had plenty of problems like Gremlins, bolt carrier not fitted, hard extractions and short strokes. Also the SU 16 is pretty flimsy and could never handle hard use

The mini may not be a tack driver, but it is a work horse

You right, I've never owned a Mini, but shot a few ..
I'm sorry if I offended some one by calling a Mini unreliable, I just remember hearing of some issues with them..

I guess for me it's mostly the looks that really turn me off.. :( but its only my opinion after all.

Cheers and Happy new Year!! :)

I had a Mini-14 in a Falcon folding stock, a long, long time ago. Sold it for far less than I should have.
Great rifle to shoot. Never had a problem with it, either at the range or out hunting.

It looked a lot like this:

except I painted the stock flat black.

Minis have accuracy issues, but not reliability issues. If they have reliabilty issues it would be from people screwing with the gas block or something. I have owned pretty near a dozen of them over the years, including mini 30's, and have never seen one jam. A couple had open chokes and would shoot nice and tight 8 inch groups or worse. A couple shot almost MOA, but none would jam. Tougher than woodpecker lips.

Rugged, reliable, quick handling, always goes bang and probably hits what you're aiming at... what's not to like? I like mine.
