Ruger mini 14

Spotted one in the gun store yesterday, I really like it, every time I try to do a search on here I get a funny error. Where on this forum can I read about it?
I just want to see it it is an accurate gun.

A stock mini-14 is not known for its accuracy. Reliable? Yes. Accurate? No.

Just about all the posts here will tell you that most Minis are not particularly accurate. Mini bashing is a popular sport. Some of the folks who bash the Mini have actually owned or shot one.
Newer ones are reported to be better, and the target version with barrel tuner is reported to shoot quite well.
It is not a military rifle, although it has been widely used by police and paramilitary organizations.
It is possible to rework a Mini so that it is quite accurate. Can be quite expensive. There are rebuilders who guarantee real accuracy.

Probably, if it is a Ranch Rifle, and you scope it. Irons are pretty coarse. There are after market scope mounts for regular Minis, but the Ranch rifle is vastly superior for scope mounting.

everything I have read has stated while not perticularly accurate, they are minute-of-cyote and their irons are rather good compared to similarly priced rifles. There are others that are much more accurate but have their own issues (like their irons not being as good, bore being non-chromed, etc) so it all comes down to what kind of things you can live with.

the rifles that dont have very many issues at all are usually over-priced

i never understood the widespread obsession with Mini-14 accuracy.
a lightweight, totally reliable little semi-auto carbine that will function in mud, dust or snow and gives you ~4-5" groups at 100 yards with cheap ammo and open sights is perfectly acceptable to me.

I have watched - and shot a scoped mini that was busting clays with each shot at 220 yards. It was tricked out with some very standard additions, like a variable gas block, a flash suppressor, and a few other non standard part - that totaled about $150-200.

It's a semi auto, non restricted, and a hoot to shoot. Parts are plenty. They get slagged a lot mostly by people who don't make the effort to read a bit to make them more accurate. Yes, they should show up accurate, but that's life.

There are about 6000 registered in Canada. I suspect they are popular with more than a few people.
