As the title says does anyone have any experiences with these rifles?

From what I understand Ruger is using new machines/tooling so these are suppoed to be more accurate than the original mini 14's...

(and no I am not referring to the Taret model)

:)

I had a new one in 6.8 but it had a ringed chamber so I rechambered it to 6.8 AI. I wouldn't say they are any more accurate than the previous ones (still 2-4" 5s). A little more evenly finished perhaps.

I already have an XCR-L with an upper in 6.8spc and hundreds of 6.8spc rounds already loaded so ammo or availability of reloading components isn't an issue...

X's 2 on the availability of components. I am getting groups around an inch @ 100 yds with Vmax bullets and Hornady Open Points with my Ruger 6.8 SPC.

I had a RRA AR 15 in 6.8 SPC, and at first I liked the caliber very much. I liked it enough to seriously consider picking up one of the 6.8 SPC Ruger minis. I've had dozens of mini 14s, and a half dozen or so mini 30s, so I know a bit about the OLD minis. I liked the look and feel of the NEW 6.8 model I handled. I came SO close to buying one.

Then I did the math on the costs VS an AR 10/Rem R25, and a shorty NORC M14 in .308 Winchester. The 6.8 ammo costs MORE, and is way harder to find than .308 Win ammo. And the 6.8 SPC Ruger mini costs WAY more than an M14, even an M14 shorty.

While I still think the 6.8 SPC cartridge is a great caliber, until it gets more maturity and more support here in Canuckistan, I will stay with the more powerful, much more common .308 Win [ which I could reload DOWN to 6.8 ballistic equivalent if I wanted to ].
BTDT,
went back to .308 Win.
