Ruger MK III or 22/45?

I currently own and shoot a ruger MkIII 22/45 with a 5 1/2" barrel, they are both the same pistol just set up with a different pistol grip angle. Of the 22/45 i have no complaints, its is accurate, inexpensive to shoot, easy to clean, and i have not had any problems with jamming, double feeds or misfires. With these points brought to light and the fact that it is virtually the same gun i wouldn't forsee any problems with the regular mark III, really the only deciding factor is personal preferance. Go to a firearms dealer that sells both models and hold them in your hands, aim them, find the one that comes to the most natural position for you and that you like the feel of in your hand. then the only descisions are colour and cash or credit
I would reccommend this pistol based on my own expiriences with it, it is a great starter to learn how to shoot handgun with and cost effective, i give it 2 thumbs up any day

I didn't like the loaded chamber indicator on the new MK IIIs so I decided to stick with my MK II with heavy 5.5" bull barrel. I love it, too bad Ruger didn't decide to make an updated MK II with American style mag release, rather than the heel release. That said, the heel release on the MK II is pretty simple to work. Most of its a case of personal preference. The .22/45 has the same grip angle as the 1911 pistol. If you like that grip, you might find it more comfortable than the standard grip geometry. If you can, I'd try to find some GunNutz close to you who would be willing to let you try their guns. Holding them in a gun store is one thing, but actually getting a chance to test fire them can really help. Might want to try a gun shop/club that has rental guns as another option.
