Hi everyone,

I tried a search but came up balls. What's the consensus of the Ruger MKII vs MKIII Pistols? I have a line on a MKII slab side in stainless...Mint with 1 mag for $448 shipped. Not the best of prices to be sure, but I haven't seen a slab side in ages. I know upon release there were people who disliked the mag disconnect and the loaded chamber indicator. What are people's thoughts on them now?

Thanks,
Cal.

Consensus is that the Magazine disconnect and Loaded Chamber Indicator are both use less junk for guns that will be used exclusively on a firing range. Both of which can be cured. However, "standard" magazine release vs. heel-release is where the real debate is, and only the MKIII has the button release. $448 shipped is not a bad price at all as new SS Target MKIIIs start at $569 USD + shipping + taxes, and are sightly more in Canada. I love my MKIII. I have a 6-7/8 Target Taper in SS.

Yeah the mag release is the one thing I wish this MKII had. While I'm here, can someone confirm that the MKIII mags will work in the MKII? I hear that a bit of filing is needed for them to drop free, but they function fine as is. Is this indeed correct?

Thanks everyone,
Cal.

If you file off the catch on the magazine they will work just fine.
