I got a Mk III 22/45 and it is fun to shoot but man are they a bugger to put back together after you take them apart for cleaning. I remember the sales guy say when I bought it, "I only two people who know how to put it back together, and I ain't one of them". There is some good YouTube videos that are a big help. I'm sure it would still be laying in pieces in my basement if I didn't come across them.
It's one handgun I've always found to have near-perfect accuracy, even in my hands. I only wish I'd bought a MK 4 when I still could, rather easier to do regular maintenance on.Figured I'd share my Ruger MKII. A true classic. Absolutely love shooting steel challenge with it.

I shoot speed steel with 3 friends who have different models of the Ruger and they are all exceptionally accurate.

Bull barrel same as mine but changed the grips to checked rubber Pachmayr. Feeds good and is accurate even when I use cheap ammo.Gotta say of everything I have, the vintage MkII usually always included in any range visit.

I bought a used Ruger MKI for $100 30 years ago. I bought it while I was a university student and it was my first handgun. At the time I had to leave it with the local police until the transfer was completed and I received an ATT. That took a few months. It is still my favorite pistol to shoot. It runs on everything, even the cheap bulk pack ammo. I got rid of the thumb rest because it annoyed me.

Same model I have, put volquarsten grips on mine, but they just didn't work for me. Found some nice wood one with the ruger eagle and put those on. Still running well, though the bolt hold open is iffy some days. - dan
I have a hunter long barreled and blued target shorter barrel mkIII. Fun pistols.
I had to change the grip on the target model to the rubberized ones after the plastic panel cracked. Improved the pistol.
I generally prefer the stainless like the hunter model but prefere the shorter bull barrel. Would have bought SS target or hunter with bull barrel MK4 if I had the chance. Easier disassembly and cleaning. About the only negative with the MK3.

I remember guys using the 10” ones for shooting rimfire silhouette , they shot like rifles . If you ever come across a pair of grips made by Clark Custom Guns of Louisiana , grab them . They made the the grip angle the same as a 1911. Had a pair and sadly let them go to another shooter who was just starting to shoot bullseye.

I've got mine down not bad, but it still takes a few extra minutes and stress relief is always good. I'll check that compatibility page to make sure.

That Ruger with the fluted barrel is a beaut. The old Woodmans were tough to beat as well. Standard Saskatchewan gopher gun.
