I've got one coming to me shortly, going to the ammo store on wednesday. Are there any rounds that work particularly well? I've had good luck with American eagle cheapo hollowpoints in my other .22s, are they a good choice for this pistol? Will stingers work? How about the bulk packs, never bought one yet, but with 3 hungry Rugers now, it might be the time to try. I also have a 10/22 and single six.
Thanks

I have a fairly new MKIII and it seems to digest most copper plated HV ammo quiet well. In all honesty I haven't tried bulk ammo, but I've used CCI Stingers and Mini-Mags, Federal Game Shok, and a few other brands without any problems. I suspect that once my pistol is completely broken in, it will eat just about anything. At least I hope so!

I have had a MKI and MKII and now have a MKIII; I have not tried anything but Winchester Power Points in the MKIII (2000 here), but the other two ate anything I fed through them. Ther MKII really liked Thunderbolts (Rem) even more than the CCI Green Tags, but I had so many FTF with the ammo, I will not use it anymore. I tried that s**t through 3 other 22s and they all ahd the same problem.

.22 Thunderbolt seems to be very dirty

I've got a Ruger Mark III, and it shoots everything I've put through it.

I can tell you to stay away from .22 Thunderbolt's !!!

These leave terrible residue in the barrel.

There is a video on YouTube on this. I looked into this ammo after I spent over an hour trying to get my barrel clean today. You really have to check this video out if you plan to use this ammo. I'm stuck with a 5,000 round box of it.

Those Remington thunderbolts have a high % of duds. I have a bunch that i refuse to fire because i had up to 20% duds in a few boxes. I shot them in a Ruger MkIII and a SW Model 41. Same result in each. I finally found that Winchester Dynapoint from walmart is the cheapest and a good shooting round.
