Hey guys. I've been out of target shooting for quite a few years now and I'm just getting back into it. I used to have a Ruger MKII and liked it alot. I'm thinking about picking up a MKIII competition with the longer barrel. Will I find much of a difference, good or bad? Or should I just keep my eye on the EE section for a MkII? Thanks for the input in advance.

I have a MKIII Competition and I love it, very accurate with the long barrel and it's well balance. Grips are great too. The differences between the MKII and MKIII are the mag release and the MKIII has a magazine disconnect, which can be removed if you want.

Which ever MK you get I recommend the Volquarsten accurizing kit.

Just get the MKIII Target Bull Barrel. I love mine. 1" groups at 20 yrds. Volquarsten Accurizing Kit, Majestic Arms Speed Strip Kit, and Williams Fire Sights.

check out the rules for max barrel length for the competitions you are looking at entering before you buy the mk 3 competition,

beautiful gun but I know that in the ISSF 6.88 inch barrel is not allowed , max is 153 mm amd the ruger competition is 174.7 mm

the gun that kschneider posted would be legal in competition , also check out the sig sauer 22 trailside target, it is made for ruger by Hammerli who manufacture high end target pistols.

Nice gun, beautiful grips… What make are those grips?
They look to be a lot fatter feeling then the standard grips on my Mark three Hunter, which are way too skinny,
Exactly what I need…

where are you guys buying the volq kits from in Canada? i have a bull barrel mark 2 that I might want to spruce up.

I got mine from Brownells in the states. But I think Sylvestre Source for Sports in Alberta is supposed to stock VQ parts. You'll have to call them up to order, I don't think they have a website.
