I had all the problems with my MK.3, that you said you had in youre original post. no amount of cleaning would stop the problems. I was getting 3 jams in one mag, with all different types of ammo. I removed the loaded chamber indicator, and all the problems went away. Now it eats ANYTHING!

How did you get the pin out? I had mine apart for the first time a couple of nights ago and it looked like it was in a blind hole.
I would say it is pretty much useless on any gun. If you want to know if there is one in the chamber, pull the slide/bolt and look with your own eyes. About like the mag safety, installed by lawyers to CYA and an impediment to proper pistol functioning. I have been lucky that I have had no function issues to date with the indicator still installed.

I have never had to purchase a new extractor for any of my firearms unless I have broken the edge right off (and even some of those I have reground and repaired)... A quick few passes with a file and stone or a trip to the belt grinder and I have a nice sharp edge that works as well as a fancy aftermarket extractor... If you are planning on replacing it anyway why not try and sharpen it yourself and see if it helps.

One time I tried to clean my 22/45... I couldn't get it back together for the life of me. I had to use a hammer and some pliers... but it turns out I didn't need a new firing pin after, this gun is just a ##### to get back together.
Once I did, however, it shoots anything like a dream.

Yes it is a blind hole. I disasembled the barrel off of the frame, then while holding the barrel in my hand I lightly tapped the top of the reciever with a soft faced mallet. the pin backed out just enough for me to get a pair of tweezers on the pin. then i pulled it out.
