Ruger MKIII & MKII Pistol

I load mine the same way (pull the slider down all the way & drop them in) but still get a sore thumb.

I removed the mag disconnect from mine, mainly because it allows the mags to drop free (1/2 mine did even with the disconnect, half didn't). We shoot IDPA in .22 during the iwnter here (well didn't happen this past winter) so I do like them to drop. I know some folks prefer them not to, but I do like them to drop.

I left the LCI in mine though as so far, I can't tie it to any jams I've had; and depends on who you ask, some folks believe the LCI actually helps feeding because it guides the cartridge into the chamber.

One thing I have done for 1/2 my mags (4 of 8) was try this guy's suggestion, just because I was having stovepipes with some brands and it was bothering me:

So far no more stovepipes...but I haven't tried enough diff brands to state it solved the issue.

BUT to bring this back to original OP's question, MKIII is a great little pistol...lots of fun & I personally like the style - alsways have.

I agree, I've always slid the follower down by thumbing the nub on the follower out the side of the mag down as you mention. Fired 500 in a day a few times and no sore thumbs.

As for the pistol, best rimfire automatic made, have a pair of stainless Mark II's and have owned several others previously. The Mark II is the best of the three, has the last shot hold open, but none of the safety junk (loaded chamber indicator, magazine disconnect), the less crap in the receiver the better. I do like the MkIII mag release however, and ordered a VQ target grip frame to allow use of MkIII mags with my Mark II receivers. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a MkIII, great gun, I just prefer less nonsense. The safety nonsense is probably worth dealing with given the better mag release if you don't want to build a $1,000 Mark II like I have with the VQ frame to take MkIII mags.

Question.....is the VQ Scorpion worth the premium over a $550 competition model?
