Ellwood Epps has one in stock in Orillia but they wanted a little bit more than Wholesale Sports and also I don't have to pay PST when it comes from Alberta.
The Hawkeye has a different profile of stock, apparently and a new crisper LC6 trigger. I'll let you know once I actually have it in my hands. Also, the Ruger 77 Mark II doesn't come in .358 Winchester right at the moment.
I had considered getting the Ruger 77 Frontier Rifle in .358 Winchester but a few people that I spoke with said that the noise would be quite substantial and that a lot of velocity would be lost with a 16.5" barrel. I didn't feel like hunting moose at .35 Remington Velocities so I chose the Hawkeye with the 22" barrel.
My gunsmith suggested not going any shorter than 20" for the .358 Winchester and that I would be better of shortening the Hawkeye to 20" rather than buying a rifle with a 16.5" barrel.
Also, the recoil of the Frontier rifle would likely but quite a bit stouter than the Hawkeye.
