Ruger New Trigger Lock

Whats up with the trigger lock in the new ruger rifles.... bug chunk of steel with a pad lock to go thru to basically lock the reciever to the chunk of metal..... mother of god it is overkill.

read the instructions, it is for the lever guns. Had me stummped with my 10/22T also.

I am a man.... I don;t need no stinking instructions

and it is for the 10/22..... the slot thing goes into the open ejection port and then it fits over the reciever and the lock goes on the far side, I just tried it and it works.

the lock is a solid type lock and is NOT a cable lock

yeah, I will never use it... scratch the hell out of the scope and stuff as well as just another item to get snagged and break something

what an abortion! the only good thing is they haven't put in a keyed lock or jlock like they have on the smiths & Remingtons. it's a finsh scratcher for sure especially with an aluminum receiver. could it be used to lock a bike?

I just use a cable lock through the open port. That thing is a monster!

What are locks? My handguns get them but nothing else.

I got that beast with my Stainless 10/22...The 'new Ruger' that my Krinker is built from came with a cable lock that sucks also.

I think it's a combination of two things.

the first, Ruger has to comply what a bunch of different states legislation including California and Massachusetts so overkill does the job.

second, Ruger probably got a great deal on those locks since they are simple padlock's and with the correct Mount will fit any of their product
