I have a No. 1 currently in 220 Swift with a kind of shot out barrel. I'd like to re-barrel to 6.5 X 47 Lapua.
Being that the Swift is a semi-rimmed cartridge and the 6.5 X 47 a rimless, I'm thinking I will probably need to do something with the extractor.
I do my own barrel work but I must admit that I've never done this change - over before.
Anyone with prior experience in this change-over care to comment ?
Any chance the old extractor will work ? Modify it ? I do have a lathe and mill so should be capable to make another one if necessary but would probably buy one if available.
TIA

You used to be able to purchase proper extractors from their Canada warrantee repair facility.

I believe there is a new repair facility in Canada now, but the old one still has many parts.

Maybe somebody has the names of the facilities for you to contact, or you could look it up on the internet yourself

The extractor is a very basic system and easily reworked if required. I think it will work as is...

Look at how the extractor fits in the cut in the factory barrel. It is not what you would call a close fit.

OK , thanks for the replies guys. Looked at it again, inserted / ejected a round of fired brass, watching the extractor closely. It appears as though there's just enough "slop" in the "fit" that it just moves a bit sideways to "clip over" the base of the case and into the groove. May just have to trim it a bit to adjust for the larger dia. of the 6.5 Lapua case.

They still are the Ruger warranty repair center in Canada and are very good to deal with

That will likely be news to Gravel Agencies ... - that is, the part about who is the Canada Warranty Repair Depot for Ruger, now. The part about "dealing with them" has put up various comments over the years - I can not say that I had any issues at all, but was simple purchases of Ruger parts - at least one order had to wait until received from USA - other than that, I had no complaints - but not any "warranty" dealings either.

I see Snapshots are no longer the warranty center, it is now Gravel Agencies
