ruger no 1 rechamber

That rifle is beauty. I would definitely keep 'er in 30-30 and work up an accurate load using Barnes new 190 gr JSP bullet. At the range ye took the bear,
I have confidence the 30-30 would do the job just fine. :)

Thanks for all the imput so far.I will look into some more different 30-30 loads before doing anything. And yes i did have a bear tag so it all worked out. Thanks Jared

Awesome... great when it works out... try the LVR powder with the 150 NBT, it was a great load in my No.1-A .30-30.

Would be a crying shame to see that rifle rechambered from .30-30 in my eyes, she’s a cutie. Hunted a few grizzlies myself, in a single shot rifle you’re not going to make yourself any safer rechambering it to .308. The fact she’s a .30-30 makes her a little sweetheart and in the No.1 the gloves are off the .30-30, can stoke it properly and no need to stay with flat point or round nose bullets. You’d be rechambering for no reason is my honest opinion, if you want a different rifle, buy it.

You can go to a quality bulleti in the 30-30 but case capacity will still limit your FPS possibly throating it out a bit and using a 165 gr bullet would help a bit . If you could grt s 165 gr bullet at 2550-2600 FPS that would work on a grizzly

very classic shot with the blanket as well. keep it in 30-30 ... pretty sure in your neck of wood a few elders got sucess with that caliber and grizzly even if i will use bigger caliber for the time we can ...
