Ruger No. 1 - What really grinds my gears...

Crazy glue will weep into the crack, but check the inletting that caused the problem. If you're going to redo the finish, I'd suggest the polomerized tung oil from Lee Valley cut with their sealer. 1850 stripper will deal easily with the finish.
Yes, they've always had proud wood, but more proud the last 6 years as the quality went down, last year's stock wood was pitiful compared to years back, ......guess the last of their good stockmen have retired or quit as they only want to produce plastic stocks now, and have announced, "no more number ones"!

I'm actually just refinishing a #1 stock right now.

I got so tired and fed up with fighting with an MPI stock I have that I'm going to just clean up the factory #1 stock I have.

It looked really rough until I used stripper and removed the finish last week. The wood doesn't actually look too bad.

I'm in the process of trying to bleach the wood so I can apply a grey'ish color finish. It's not a fancy rifle and it's already been
rebarreled to 260 Rem and the action cerakoted.

Been 6 or 7 years since it was rebarreled and I just want to get the stock finished up so I can finally shoot it.
