I got a question for some one who loads a Ruger 1V in .223.I set a 55Gr bullet in an uncharged cartridge so it is just holding in the neck and when inserted into the breech by finger it does not touch the lands of the rifling.I dropped a bullet only into the breech and tapped lightly and inserted a brass rod which I marked then inserted a dummy round set a 2.260" which is the recommended OAL and I am still a 1/4" away from the lands. Is normal with a Ruger No1.Looking forward some help regarding the OAL Thanks.

sounds like a typical factory throat. Not sure what the twist in the 1V is because they don't make it in 223 anymore but their 1V in 6.5-284 has a rediculously tight twist (6") so they seem to be made for long and heavy bullets. 55's are quite short. I am just guessing because I have never played with one in 223. Sound like a nice varmint gun though.
