ruger no1 tropical

I have had Hornaday 270 spirepoints blow up on mule deer if shot under 100 yards on a couple of occasions. When it does it ruins both front quarters! I switched to RWS bullets and later partions when they brought them out again, no problems what so ever now.

The .375 is a do all caliber, and the Ruger #1 is a handy and handsome rifle - one of my favorites. Make sure your ammo chambers easily before you go hunting though as the #1` doesn't have much camming power, and you don't want to be fighting to close the action if you need a second shot. The Barnes TSX is so good I'm not sure why anyone would want to use anything else, but if you anticipate long shots the Sierra should hold together. I think premiums are at their best when ranges are short and velocities are high.

Preacher:

Nope, no more so than a 45-70 or 450 Marlin, but it will be more comfortable to shoot if you load it down to about the 2000 fps level ... and put on a good recoil pad instead of that piece of **** that Ruger supplies.
