Is it just me but there seems to be something beautiful about the Ruger P Series Pistols. I was looking at the p85 and can't help but like the look of the gun. She's not a beauty at first site, but the more you look at her you start to see thats she a beauty that stands apart.

What is there to be said of these in the P series. They good guns?

They kinda are blocky, ugly, dated. But at the same time thats seem to be the appeal to me. What do they go for price wise and who sells them? I have the urge to hold and fire one.

I like my P-series pistols for most of the reasons above. They do feel top-heavy somewhat like my Glock 17. Got 2 P89s (9mm), a P91 (.40SW) and a P90. None have ever failed to feed or eject when fed good reloads.

Being a Ruger fan I had to have the P-85 when it first came out. After all, it was Ruger's first center fire semi-auto pistol. I agree about the looks. I also agree they are top heavy. Mine still runs and feeds on anything. I don't know that I have ever had a stoppage. They are built to last for sure. As for accuracy, I had a chance to shoot a Beretta 9mm and a Sig shortly after getting the P-85. It easily out-grouped the Beretta, much to my friends chagrin. It was the equal of the Sig in the accuracy department. And I don't want to get flamed for saying it was the equal of a Sig. Accuracy wise- yes; in other areas- no. I have since acquired other 9mm guns and I have to say I prefer my Browning High Power and Glock over the P-85. The trigger on the P-85 is not the best. I hate the safety as you push up instead of wiping down which is contrary to any other semi-auto I shoot. So it doesn't get shot much anymore. However, once in a while I take it out and admire it. I still like how it looks! Too bad you live in Ontario, otherwise I would invite you to shoot it.

Very interesting.

My first handgun was a P89 and I love it, it would be my last handgun to be sold if I had to sell any ... its always been 100% reliable with everything I feed it clean or not and its more acurate than I am. The only thing I did to improve it was swapping my trigger for a more ergo P95 trigger and it improved my groups.

I'm personally, not a fan of the P series Ruger pistols. Had one of the first P90's .45ACP that came into Canada back in the day that did not operate up to standard. 'Course by that time I was an already "confirmed" 1911 man for .45ACP. That Ruger kinda put me off the P series pistols, though. Never cared to own another after that.

NAA.

I had a P85: it had a really heavy, gritty trigger, so I had a trigger job done on it. It came back with a less heavy, less gritty trigger. Thats the best I can say about it, but I agree that they are reliable as hell. My accuracy with it sucked, but that may have just been me.

KP89D was my first pistol. Loved it. First thing to do - ditch the grip panels and get a hogue rubberized grip with fingergrooves. Improves the feel 100% (for me anyway).

Only sold it cause I got out of the 9mm game. Never had a single misfeed, FTF, FTE or anything. Ate every kind of ammo from day one!

Solid as a brick as noted. I actually prefer the P94 series with the more 'slabside' look... my KP94 was awesome as well.

I loved my P89 9mm when I had it, would never act up at all and would eat ANYTHING you throw in it.

Mag changes were extremely fast on the gun, the way the mags thin out towards the top really aided reloads along with practice.
