Well I finaly settled on the KP94D very nice and as soon as I picked it and aimed it I knew right from there it was the right one for me. Right on target. Who cares if the write all over it, thats not why I choose or not choose a firearm.

Very nice. That gun is also on my list. Where did you handle one? I've been having trouble finding the 9mm (P94) a lot of places only seem to have the 40s&w (P944)

Ruger P Series Pistols

Unlike the Glock.... plastic toy guns, I like the heavier feel of steel.

Funny, I prefer steel as well but not the Ruger pistols. I've only owned one P series Ruger centerfire pistol. Put enough rounds thru it to find out it was just a jamma-matic club. Got rid of it...

For a steel frame 9mm pistol I prefer a CZ75 or a BHP. ;)

And I won't mention the Glock 22 .40 cal I have that has over 25,000 rounds thru it without a hic-cup [but this thread is about steel Ruger pistols]... so I won't mention it... :p

too late, you did mention it! lol....I would never say the p-89 is a reliable combat style pistol. In terms of feel and weight its actually feels like a gun compared to my glock 17! lol...anyway...i may be going to SIG CITY soon.:D

Ah yes the Sig is steel, left over steel from thereal guns but still steel, my bad.

I found my KP94D at Wild west shooting centre in west edmonton mall. It was 50 bucks more than some other places but at least they had one and i didnt have to wait 6 weeks to get it.

I went crazy today, added some more to my collection of a BDE 40 and a Springfield 45 xd with a 45 mag S&W stainless revolver in a 5" and the ol lady chose out a glock 17. She was going to go withe berreta 9m but she really liked the glock and to round it all off a Ruger single six .22. Now I can relax look around and see what else I want.

Well Ive always been a big Ruger fan, have owned several rifles and .22 Pistols. But have always heard that the centrefires had a bad rep as cheap jammomatics. Anybody who slags Sig probably doesnt know much about pistols in general.

I have a Ruger KP89DC and it has never jammed, fte or ftf. From others I have talked to it is one of the more reliable guns out there. It may not be pretty but it is meant to take anything (built like a tank). It is nice to have larger hands when handling it, but there is something about having a large, heavy pistol that lets you know it's there. (Yes I am still referring to the Ruger)

either way you look at it, a ruger will never grow up to be a sig, or a glock. anyone know of any agencies that chose a ruger as their side-arm? me neither. and while that's not the be-all / end-all of choosing a handgun, it is an indicator of which manufacturers can build something worth choosing to bet your life on. none of which matters when you are blasting the hell out a piece of cardboard i suppose.

i'm entitled to my opinion and so are you.

Well said, a lot of us base our opinions on how serviceable a handgun is, I still will, potentially mistakenly. The Ruger does just fine for giving paper its way outta the world, and it decently priced to boot. Personally I'd buy a CZ or used Glock first, but really it doesn't matter too much what a guy likes, that's his business and we are all entitled to our opinions.

the one thing I find negative about the ruger p89 besides all the reliability issues is the ergonomics. Racking the gun seems to be a PITA and the controls are all big and cumberson. Just my opinions having shot one.

US army have given ruger a contract for p95 9mm pistols

Ok I have to ask, just what exactly are these "reliability issues" you people speak of?

You seem overly willing to say the guns #### or has lots of problems, but you dont list off exactly what they are, Anyone care to share that side of the guns story?

who are you asking exactly? from my own firsthand knowledge being an owner of both, the ruger simply is not in the same class. (in my own little gun world). the ruger has had a few fte, ftf, stovepipes over the years, while the glocks have NEVER malfunctioned at all. not that i'm all hype on the magic plastic pistol scene, but it works full-time instead of part-time, and i prefer dedicated employees taking up space.
