*cough* load of crap *cough*

You can have an AD with any firearm. A Glock is not the cause of the AD, the user is.

x2, there is the rare case of a mechanical failure causing an AD but 99.999999999% of the time, it is operator error, and we (in USMC) refer to them as NDs, Negligent Discharges b/c they should never happen, you can be charged under the UCMJ for having an ND.....

the P85 had some issues with firing pin breakage, IIFC. This issue was resolved with the P89 series.

P85's can get a safety update that prevent the guns from discharging when decocked (AFAIK, only one documented case of this happening in the field). I believe that the update is present on recently-manufactured P85's straight from the factory.

I too, was going to mention this one listed at P&D:

04159 Ruger KP89D, Stainless 9mm 525.00 NEW

From what I know about Rugers, they are very well built and overdesigned guns. The guys I know who have purchased these pistols are all very happy with them and feel they got the deal of the century! :)

For the price you cant go wrong with a P89...keep in mind that these are combat guns and built accordingly...I have a KP89D stainless...never had a hiccup. Excellent warranty service by the way.

I personally cannot stand any of Ruger's center fire semi auto pistols besides the SR series...just SOOO ugly lol.

I have a Ruger KP89DC and it has never jammed, fte or ftf. From others I have talked to it is one of the more reliable guns out there. It may not be pretty but it is meant to take anything (built like a tank). It is nice to have larger hands when handling it, but there is something about having a large, heavy pistol that lets you know it's there. (Yes I am still referring to the Ruger)

The ruger p89 was built for a military contract but wasnt completed on time from what ive read thats why its built as robust as it is. This is by far my favorite handgun and forever will be my favorite. Once I changed the grips to hogue and changed my trigger to a modified p95 trigger my groups tightened up and the gun feels alot better to shoot, not that it wasnt before.
My p89 has never once given me any issues, it doesnt matter what i feed it or how little I clean it ... it keeps going and going and going.

They can be found used for a reasonable price, I think I payed just under 500 for mine with 5 magz and holster from epps.
