ruger p89 vs glock 17

"Kaboom" is a reloading issue, not a Glock issue.

The only firearm I have ever personally witnessed go kaboom, in 24 years of shooting, was a Glock 17, less than a week old, clean, with factory 9mm ammo.

I will now go back and play with my dangerous reloaded .303 in my hundred year old rifles, because I trust them more than I trust Glock.

YMMV.

The Ruger has a cast slide. In Canada, there is no reason to buy Ruger since it is not dirt cheap like in the US.

Hehe...two year old thread revived.

As Greentips points out, with the current pricing we are getting these days for Glocks, M&Ps, etc (ie ~$500)...Rugers don't seem to be that great of a deal(since I haven't noticed a major drop in price for them).

I tested the Glock 17,19 Ruger p85, Sig P228, and the Beretta 92D back in the mid ninties. I fed them all sorts of ammo, mixed them in the mags, got them dirty etc. The only two guns that didn't fail were the Beretta and the Ruger.
Not trying to start a pissing match with all the Glock owners out there, I've owned several myself, just stating fact.

Your fact is based on your limited sampling and your personal experience. I'm not saying it didn't happen. I'm just saying your sample is too small to be of any significant value in this debate.

In addition to TDC's comment....

Strictly speaking, the 'test' was not statistically significant as one would need to compare randomised sampling of various picks of each of the same pistols(rather than just one of each). One would also have to standardise the testing as ammo is a factor as well and account for that.
