I'm planning on picking up a folding/takedown 9mm PCC that can fit in smaller carry bags (cuz my other PCC is a .45 Vector lol)

I settled on the Ruger PCC before I found out about the S&W FPC a few weeks ago...should I go ahead and get the PCC or wait for the FPC?
The Ruger PCC's smaller/flatter profile can be stored easier with/without optics but the FPC looks like the new hotness and can carry 2 spare magazines--but it's a lot bulkier since it folds sideways. Also Glock mags vs M&P mags

Based on the expected MSRP, they're within $100 of each other with the FCP being slightly cheaper depending on when you get it so I could really go both ways...

What do you guys think?

if the main goal is compact i would just go for the ruger PC backpacker. the stock can hold 1 mag inside and you can keep other mags in other slots of the bag

The S&W FPC stock looks too bulky

No love for a Sub2000? Price has dropped recently ($799* from Prophet River, similar at a few other stores), and is smallest and lightest in class by a sizeable margin. * being KelTec it's "raw" out of the box.

True...I guess "more compact" > "extra mag on the gun" haha

I'd also recommend buying sooner rather than later given this governments intention to legislate changes banning semi-autos. YMMV
This is also a good point...I've been taking my time but it could go away anytime soon depending on how the entire mess goes in the next few weeks...

I wanted the Sub2K before I narrowed my choice down to the Ruger PC (and now the FPC)...I want to run an optic on it and I don't want to deal with swivel mounts

Also I tried the Sub2K at a store before and it didn't really feel good in my hands :(

How about buy Backpacker now, buy FPC if/when available, choose between them, sell the loser? It's the no-delay and no-rush plan!

Deal breaker for me was FPC's M&P mags - I can't justify another bunch of OEM mags at $70+ each. Otherewise, wowz, likey.

i have backpacker and love it. Did all mcarbo / tandemkross upgrades. Bought as basic one and got the backpacker stock. Total worked about 1050. Same price is many places now. though it is advertised as sale. But please buy soon. We dont know when things will change. Its volatile state.

Did you shoot the gun before the upgrades?

Did the upgrades make a big difference?

Did the Backpacker reduce the weight of the PCC?

Wait for the sw fpc, ruger is too heavy for a backpack gun even has magpul stock on it still weight about 6.5lb,s2k is easy to break and u can't use +p ammo in it.

I have the backpacker, I really like it!

It is a bit heavy but it’s rock solid.

To keep it compact I’m not running any optics.

ya i have backpacker. its light and portable. Yes foldable FPC might be quick to deploy when required but backpacker is still a good one. I did combo of mcarbo and tandemkross upgrades. Its fun to shot.
