Ruger pc carbine optics

I have the same question. Currently running a Vortex red dot and it is a lot of fun at 20-50yds.
My friends tell me I should look at a 1-4 scope and I am looking at the Vortex Crossfire II

Does anyone have this or think this is a good way to go ?

If you are looking at improved accuracy the scope you are looking at will fit the bill. I like my red dots but a do better with my scope due to my older eyes. I do think you will find your gun is capable out to 100 yards with the right ammo combo. Vortex makes good scopes for their price point. You don't have to spend more than you are looking at. The gun/cartridge combo is not a long range sniper.

Thanks for the confirmation. Sadly my eyes are also not what they used to be either.
I am intrigued by the illuminated recticle red dot for short range plinking.

What you want to consider is how good their warranty is. These things can fail and who do you go to for service. Vortex and Bushnell have produce in the price range you are looking at so you might want to take a look. I have had good luck with my Vortex Spar11, which I don't think is being sold anymore and a Vortex Crossfire Red Dot which sell for less but in some respects is better.

Now you just changed my whole outlook .

The TRS-25 , Sig Romeo 5 and Crossfire are all with a few bucks of each other .

I do t think there is much daylight between any of them. I can attest to the service/warranty Vortex provides. I suspect the others are good as well. Someone who has may chime in.

How are these holding zero for you guys after takedown/reassembly...if you have yours optic mounted on the receiver that it. Thanks!!!

I have a EoTech XPS2 on my Ruger PCC and have also used a Vortex Venom. Both were mounted on top of the receiver of the rifle.

I take down the rifle to clean the barrel after every shooting session and did not ever loose my zero. It is not really a benchrest rifle so if I were off a bit I did not notice with the 9mm at short range.

I shoot the steel plate challenge and have been very happy with the rifle and the optics. The Venom with the large red dot seemed to work the best, but looks a bit 'flimsy' on top. I cannot find a protective exoskeleton mount for it.

.

I bought the Vortex Crossfire . Where to you guys mount it ? ...

Pros and cons, depending on what you prefer. Generally, the further forward you mount it, the better it works as a sight (the housing takes up less space in your field of view). The further back you mount it, the less it changes the balance point of the firearm.

You may also find you like one particular position in terms of how easy it is to use the controls.

Thank you for your info sir!!!

I mount them on the receiver, as far forward as I can. I can see why a barrel mounted red dot might make sense in theory for takedown zero retention but it hasn't been a problem in practice.
