Ruger PC Carbine

Had mine out today for first time, 100% reliability with my reloads, but I will have to locktite the charging handle screw as it backed out a bit on me by the end of my range session.

I broke down and bought one last week. $699.00 at a new Brunswick dealer. I was expecting something with the build quality of my old Keltec 2000. Wrong, this thing is very nicely built. I think it is a very good value for the money.

The Tungsten insert weight has a series of holes in it. I will bet they leave the holes out of it for a model in .45 acp.

Everything but 9mm is a dead pistol caliber realistically. That's why many guns (pistols or pcc) are only or mostly released in 9mm. And to be fair it makes sense. If you need more than that there is .223

I finally got my PC9 out shooting. It ran 100% flawlessly with a variety of FMJ in 115 and 124gr loadings. Plinking steel targets at 150y and beyond is a hoot. Very easy pointing and smooth running gun!

Do you have a scope or red dot on yours? I am trying to figure out what works best on these, especially with my aging eyes.

I would hunt with a pcc in 44mag, I wouldn't with a 223, but that is my personal thoughts on the matter, just like you posted yours

For the people waiting/hoping on a .44mag PCC, do you currently hunt with a .44mag and simply want to switch out to a new platform or are you simply justifying the idea of a .44mag PCC by saying it would be a sweet fast follow up hunting option?

I can see the appeal but I'd guess it's down the list of calibers to be released.

There is no way Ruger is releasing a .44 PC carbine. It would require a complete redesign of the rifle. That should be obvious to anyone with even a basic understanding of the PC and/or blowback gun engineering. I could see the rifle as currently offered handling 10mm Auto at most before serious re-engineering would be necessary.

That's my assessment as well B, but according to Brian, Ruger told him it's a possibility or may have even said they plan on it.... I will let Brian speak to what they told him last year.

I could see a new series of PC carbines built on a bigger receiver and utilizing some sort of locking system but as far as our current PC goes you'd have to switch out so many things that a newly designed rifle would make much more sense.

I look at it more from the dual mag Glock/Ruger aspect as well..... going to a dessert eagle mag only .44mag version is way more of a stretch then a glock mag 10mm conversion for example.

A takedown remake of the .44mag semi's they used to make with the rotary magazine would make more sense for the hunters.

If it won't take 44 it won't put up with 10mm other than factory loads that are basically a 40cal.

The 10mm could fit, that's the biggest difference... Have you even held a PC carbine? It really surprises and sort of confuses me that you are so confident it would work.

Do I need to hold one when I spoke to a tech at ruger directly when they were first announced to be coming out....... I don't care if it is an entirely different rifle, if the original 44 or Deerfield was available with a proper magazine and a synthetic stock, that is all I want.

10mm may fit, but if you are confident the current version won't hold up to a 44, it won't hold up to +P or buffalo bore 10mm either
