Ruger PC Carbine

The Ruger mag I got was for the FS SR9. Of all the companies I can think of Ruger is the most mindful of Canadian shooters. They were the first to produce a revolver for IDPA up here the 4.2" that followed the IDPA RB, ie. the Ruger GP-100. Ruger even posted in their catalog that it met the Canadian legal requirement. S&W followed only after the Ruger had established there was a market for such a gun up here.

I agree Ruger has been great on barrel length acomodation.... but the mags they were sending up with the PCC's don't work( or at least didn't) in standard gripped SR9's.
I don't know what the FS is in FS Sr9 but my original shipment Ruger PC carbine came with short 10 round magazines that don't fit in my older SR9 for the reasons mentioned...... I emailed Ruger about it suggesting that along with the 18.5" barrel special models they were shipping to Canada, perhaps they could also substitute standard length magazines along with the barrel accommodation..... I never heard back.
I haven't seen any mention of different length mags coming on the shipments in the last 6 months or so that's way I asked if anyone with a newer gun was getting mags that were usable in a typical Canadian SR9?

Are you saying that your recent Ruger PCC 9 came with the longer standard length Ruger SR 9 mags?

I picked mine up last Thursday and it has the short magazine.

Bear in mind that, while an owner of the SR9 pistol (FS I assume means Full Size?) might want the longer mags, some of us who own just the PC carbine are much happier with shorter ones. The capacity is the same, so why have that extra length dangling below the gun? I put the Glock magwell on mine, and specifically look for Glock 19 or, better yet, 26 mags for this reason.
Is it safe to say this here? I know on the Black Rifles forum, surrounded by guys who think they look cool with pinned 30-round mags or even pinned drums, this might not go over well. I hope the PCC crowd is more...discerning...

I agree the short mags are handy in that sense, it's the dual use aspect of Carbine's and their related pistols that suffers a bit in Canada, but as we both point out it's not like the glock magwell doesn't solve all those issues...... it just moves people a hair towards Glocks instead of Rugers.
I'm glad Ruger had the Balls/Brains to offer the Glock magwell but they are probably hurting themselves in an admit ably minor way by offering compatible barrels with Cdn regulations but magazines that fall a bit "short" for the dual purpose Ruger market here.
+1 to that ^ ! When I got the carbine I looked around for extra mags, never saw any in the EE or in local stores. Swapped in the Glock magwell, and had my pick of Glock stuff both locally and online. I'm thinking that if I ever did find the SR9 mags they would probably be more expensive than the Glocks as well?
if you re patient i may have soon that i sell for less than a glock mag unless you want to pay more. ps i got a rebate on the glocks as well lol ....
Got to think a single stack mag is not going to work in a double stack gun. How do you think it would stay in the gun? Just asking.

G17 single stack mags seem to work okay. Though I wish it fit more snug in the rifle. THey stay in and don't have an issue feeding but, there is clearly some room to move. I wouldn't expect it to feed very well if you started screwing with the mag while shooting.

Glock double stack pistols have both single or double stack mags. The singles use the same outer dimensions, but add a pair of internal ribs, so the rounds stack single, not double. The doubles are generally referred to with their pinned size over their capacity such as a 9mm 10/17 mag, or 40S&W 10/15 mag. etc
Glock 43, 48, etc are single stack pistols, not the single stack mags which were referenced above. Glock 9mm 10/17s on the left, Glock 10 round 9mm on the right. Both Glock 17 factory mags. The pinned mags are not legal in some states now.
