Ruger PC4 carbine

I know that Epps charges about $500 for a non-restricted bbl for a Storm, so I assume it would be about the same for a PC4. For that price, I'll get a new 870 combo instead.

I just got the rifle, it's sweet! I have to read the manual, but for now, does anyone know how to keep the action open? Never mind, just figured it out.

One more question - what type of ammo does this rifle like? Win white box 180gr. FMJs are my usual plinking choice for my XD40. Any thoughts?

Just got the Bushnell Trophy 30mm red dot scope, graciously and skillfully installed and bore sighted by a fellow Nut. It looks really cool :D Can't wait to get it to the range. I need mags!

Glad to help;) The P91 mags are interchangable with the PC4.

What mags are interchangable between what Ruger pistol and the PC9?

Wow aren't I smart, P89 (Serial No. 304-70000 & Above), P93, P94, P95, PC9 mags are the same.

Thanks

RANGE REPORT

I've had the rifle to the range twice now. Bottom line - this is a great little rifle. :D

I'm still waiting for mags to arrive, so I used my XD40 mags. I had several feeding problems, with rounds hitting the feed ramp but not going up. I had to hold the rifle under the mag. The mags were also very tight coming out of the well. I assume that factory mags will solve the feeding problem.

The trigger pull is long, with a lot of spongy creep until any tension. Once through the slack though, the break is nice.

The rifle is heavier than I thought it would be for a small rifle, and with steel Ruger rings and the red dot, it's even heavier (though it's still not 'heavy' at all), but it's balanced perfectly and is very pointable with super-quick target acquisition.

I'm looking at a tactical flashlight now, not because I need one (need? don't be silly), but because the  factor would be huge. :D

A fellow CGNer had his new Storm in .40 at the range too, so I had the chance to do a head-to-head comparison. The Storm is lighter but kicks a little more as a result. My second shot times were slower. The Storm has all those pretty rails, so accessories are plentiful and easy to mount. I found the length of pull on the Storm to be too short - but I'm 6'2" 200lbs. so it's probably right for most people, and I found it hard to shoot with full size muffs, they kept getting in the way. I like the option of ejection to either side, I'm a lefty, though this wasn't a problem with my PC4, which ejects with considerable power, so I don't get hot brass in the forehead.

The 2 rifles are very similar in performance, but overall I like the PC4 more. My friend likes his Storm more, so we're both very happy with our new guns.

Thanks HD. That's pretty much what mine looks like too, minus the ghost rings and plus a red dot scope. She sure is pretty.:D

Almost - I haven't put a sling on it yet, but I did put on a flashlight with a remote pressure switch. RADAR - are you happy with it? I like mine a whole lot.

My PC40 always goes to the range with me for a little plinking. It was working flawlessly until lately. Factory Ruger mags worked perfect but Pro-Mag aftermarket kept jamming. I finally took the Pro Mags apart and found they used grease on the spring for a lubricant. Cleaned all the grease off and now no more stoppages. (Ususally a stovepipe in the mag)

You may find it is a hard carbine to shoot. When I pull mine out at the range, everyone else wants to shoot it:eek:

Kids like to shoot it as well as it has a nice light recoil and it does not bark like the .223

Interesting story about the PC4 carbines that were bought by the Peel Regional police.....the person who was in charge of this particular weapon procurement was under the impression that they took the same magazines as their S&W .40cal pistols....because the caliber was .40cal S&W.
True story. ;)

Still a great little cruiser carbine, even if they have to carry different mags.
