Ruger PC9 Failure

I'm glad I'm not the only one with issues, I have the take-down MLOK version, put a few hundred rounds in and I stove-pipe every 2 to 3 rounds. I read somewhere that it supposedly starts happening if you're tapping on the bottom of the magazine when you're reloading and seating it, and I do this out of muscle memory. Mcarbo is on the way, hopefully it helps.

I have almost 2000 rounds through mine and due to the stories I have read, I have replaced the extractor with an MCarbo at around the 1600 round mark just out of precaution - there were no issues so again just out of precaution. Also replaced the really weak and crummy shock buffer and plastic retaining piece with the MCarbo shock buffer and the metal retaining piece.

The only thing I didn't replace are the two bolt head pins.

Yup - regarding PMAGs, my experience has been the complete opposite. The PMAGs I used (GL7/GL9) have worked flawless in my PC Carbine, insofar as the last round bolt hold open (no issues feeding either). My carbine consistently DOES NOT hold the bolt open using the OEM Glock 17 G5 mags. I have cleaned the mags and taken them apart (really, really difficult on the G5 10 rounders) and reassembled and no difference. With the PMAGs, the last round bolt hold open works 90% of the time. With the Ruger S9/SR9 magwell and magazine, it works 100% of the time, but I am going to stick with the Glock magwell and PMAGs.

Since I started this thread I'm pleased to announce that all 3 of my Ruger carbines have been basically running without a hiccup for many thousands of rounds. I bought a McCarbo extractor but have no idea where it is as I never needed it!

I have 2 Glock 19X pistols and so I use those magazines in the Ruger carbines.

Replaced Extractor with Mcarbo after first range trip due to constant FTE’s every pull of the trigger. Magazines have been spotty with LRBHO. New Glock Mags and Pmags alike. Had the magwell adapter played with my the LGS and site sponsor to remedy this and it has been great so far. (Approx 200rounds)
Ruger or an Aftermarket Firm needs to redesign this. It is the Achilles heel of the entire system. Replacements in range bag is the only current solution which is wild.

Anybody have an idea who might have mcarbo extractors in stock for a ruger pc carbine. TKs.

I think Bullseye North at one point carried it. It is out of stock now but just add the part to your notifications list. I got one last year this way. https://www.bullseyenorth.com/shop/...ne-exact-edge-extractor-8146107394385823-4637

MCarbo sells it directly on their website: https://www.mcarbo.com/ruger-pc-carbine-exact-edge-extractor.aspx

A few other places will sell the extractor pin and the bolt head pins set but Bullseye is the only one I have seen that sells the actual extractor

I installed the extractor, pins, and the Mcarbo trigger, the spring kit is no longer available due to some mechanical issues. I hadn't had any issues, and I don't have a round count through the gun, but I decided to replace the parts anyways, and I love the trigger! Clean, crisp, no overtravel. I think it was worth the cost.

I've got probably 2500-3000 rounds through my pc9 and very few issues (likely mag or ammo related) with regards to extraction. Bought a mcarbo extractor just in case the factory one starts to crap the bed. eventually the claw will round over due to normal wear and will need to be replaced, that's normal as its a wear item.

I had this problem with two of my Ruger PCC's . both had serial numbers starting with 911.
Gunsmith at Snapshots in Quebec helped me out with getting replacement parts.
Love the Rugers. shoot in PCC matches and Steel challenge competition
no more problems
