Just got my hands on the new Ruger PC9 takedown in 9mm.
I already reload for a glock in 9mm (133PF) for IPSC purposes.
For those who reload for the new Ruger PC9, here are my questions,

What PF does it take to cycle reliably?
We can speak of pistol PF since it will obviously have more velocity in a carbine.

How fussy is the chamber?
My glock reloads do not all fit in the Dillon chamber check, i'd say 80% of them pass the chamber check, but they all 100% feed reliably in my glock.
the 20% that doesn't pass my Dillon chamber check definitely jam up an 1911 or a tanfo, wondering what the PC9 will say.

I use my handgun load (PF 131 w/ 4" barrel, 147gr CamPro, 4.1gr WSF, 1.09" OAL) for my Ruger and I haven't had a problem yet. I can't speak towards your potential gauging problem because all my rounds pass gauge. Just use the barrel and see if it will plunk one of your "failed" rounds.

Thanks, at least i know my 133PF loads do not need to be modified (also using 147CP)

As for gauging not an issue if same load as glock,
Everything that doesn’t pass the gauge becomes glock practice ammo.
Just didn’t want ending up with different PF practice ammo to set me off with my glock slide timing.

I’ll try mine next weekend and chime in how it does.
Without speaking of PF necessarily, ill chrono the glock 17 velocity and pc9 velocity see how +14’’ of barrel affects velocity.

By the way my load is 3.3gn of Titegroup behind a 147 CamPro, which gives me 900FPS on avg.

I saw very little velocity increase using 147 grn bullets. Gains are much higher the lighter you go. It's straight blowback so as long as your bullets are making it out of the barrel you shouldn't have many issues with any reasonable load.

Will be interesting to see.
I can imagine having gas lost due to blowback before bullet leaves barrel.
Labradar will tell next week-end.

Bullet should be long gone before much gas is making it out the back. Otherwise that would lead to some pretty unsafe conditions. A squib is your biggest concern, especially when combining small charges of fast powder with heavy bullets.

A 9mm doesn't gain much velocity past 5 inch barrel. If you see a large increase (or decrease), you should doubt your equipment or your process.

I gained about 350fps with a 115, 300fps with a 124 and only 75fps with a 147. That's a general trend with all the powders I have used. N340, Longshot and W231.

I have reloaded for pistol for 10 years and rifle for 2 years now. Reload process is flawless without wanting to brag.
It's my first pistol caliber carbine so didn't know what to expect.

In 308 when I went from a 24'' barrel to a 26'' I saw a 100fps increase.
In 9mm, without having researched or tried firsthand, I was expecting a 200+fps jump from 5'' to 18'' barrel.

We learn some everyday.
Still can't wait to chrono, as I am now expecting a 75fps jump per previous post data.

good info thanks
What were your velocities from the PC9, thanks
Trying to ge the club to allow pcc's in steel challenge, discussion is about the extra energy maybe being a problem on targets

Sorry but I'm too lazy to copy everything over from my app. The most speed I have gotten is 1500fps using 5.6grns of Longshot pushing a 115 XTP. The max is something like 6.2 but I hit the point of diminishing returns at 5.6. My velocity actually started going down past that. I intend to do some experimenting in the spring to see if I can get up to 1600 with a 124. From my reading it seems doable safely.
