Hi, when I look for the Ruger pcc Carbine, hey advertise 10rd magazine capacity, non-restricted. It's a center fire rifle so it should be 5rd right?
If I have a Glock too with 10rd mag what s happen?
I'm a bit confused...

It doesn't start out with the answer to your question...but this thread has it in there...somewhere...LOL

Pretty funny too.

F U RCMP Criminal Operations Branch

The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in. "

Ok good, thanks! , but, now, I think about the Buttler Creek 30rd 10/22 mags, made since 20years for the 10/22 but, can now fit in the BX25. But they are now prohibited..... Kind of hard to figure the "logic" in the law (if there's any...)

Don't try to find logic in our firearm laws. There is none.

Logic would dictate that wilderness handgun carry would be no different than wilderness rifle carry, but one is done every day and one would land you in prison.

Magazine capacity
Some large-capacity magazines are prohibited regardless of the class of firearm. As a general rule, the maximum magazine capacity is:

5 cartridges for most magazines designed for a semi-automatic centre-fire, long gun
10 cartridges for most handgun magazines
A large-capacity magazine is not prohibited if it has been permanently altered so that it cannot hold more than the number of cartridges allowed by law. Acceptable ways to alter a magazine are set out in the Criminal Code Regulations.

There is no limit to the magazine capacity for semi-automatic, rim-fire long guns, or for other long guns that are not semi-automatics, with some exceptions.
