Hi there, just wondering if anyone has either changed or are considering changing this piece? I have found when grasping this piece to pull out the attached bolt assembly, the grasp/shock buffer seems to be pretty plasticky and appears to be bending a bit. I am not sure whether continued grasping it to pull the bolt out will cause that connecting point on the buffer piece to snap off - it looks like it is screwed in.

It appears MCarbo has an upgrade piece which is purportedly tougher as well as being made out of rubber (if I recall right) or a rubber compound - supposed to help with recoil too (not that this is much of an issue).

Has anyone bothered to replace this pre-emptively or has anyone had any issues with this factory one breaking/snapping? Mine seems to be "bent" at a 80 degree angle, not the 90 degree it once was.

l just put small flat screw driver behind and pushed out. If you go the mcarbo root buy the stainless steel clip as well, way better. Got mine through site sponsor.

Thank you very much. I will do as you suggest with the flat head. I am surprised that the plastic backing piece has a joint that is plastic and can break.

If you could share which site sponsor from which you purchased that would be great. Thanks.

Bullseye North carries Mcarbo. Extractor is a pretty good investment. The factory ruger extractor that came on mine had less bite than a newborn. Installed the buffer before first use so I can’t say if the recoil is any different but the Mcarbo upgrades definitely seem worth it after inspecting the oem parts. Ruger definitely skimped in quality where they thought they could get away with it. Mcarbo has an entire Kit for the PC Carbine which packages all the goodies together to save cost but they are harder to come by.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like a impending visit to Bullseye North is in order for me. I have a shopping list of stuff I need to get there, and I think these additional parts are sufficient impetus for me to initiate the trip.

I ordered the extractor, stainless recoil spring retainer, bolt face pins and recoil buffer pad. Does anyone know who sells upgraded springs for trigger and recoil spring? Mcarbo seems to have discontinued them. I would like to swap trigger springs if I put aluminum flat trigger in there.

I just installed the TG9 from Volquartsen. Mine wasn't quite drop in as described. Had to do some filing on trigger to get it to fit. Not a cheap piece either.
