I picked up a Ruger Precision model 18114 which is the 6.5 Creedmoor with the 24" barrel, its the Gen4 and sports the Smoked Bronze paint job.
but when i went to get the spec sheet off the Ruger website they don't list that model.
in fact my serial number doesn't even come up on the Ruger search of serial numbers.
the model 18114 does not show up anywhere except in Canada.

when i looked into a bit more i can see all the other current offerings from Ruger in the Precision Rifle offered and using the proper model numbers with the exception of the 3.
all are the current gen4 in the smoked copper and are the 6.5 and then the 308 in 2 different barrel lengths.
all 3 of those have what look to be a Canadian specific model number even though they look to be pretty much the exact same as the american offerings.
Ruger Precision 6.5 Creedmoor US 18095 -> Can 18114
Ruger Precision 308 with 20" barrel US 18104 -> Can 18115
Ruger Precision 308 with 24" barrel no US model -> Can 18116

has anyone else noticed this?
why do we have a Canadian specific model (models)??
now i understand sometimes companies do runs of rifles just for us and Ruger has done this before as well, but they have always still included them in the serial number database.
and what about the normal ones made them have to kick out a Canadian model?
these are bolt action long barreled rifles, its not like they are under length or semi auto's.

i just can't make any sense of it.

below im going to copy the spec sheets and compare them between the Canadian distributor listing and the ruger web site.

i reached out to Ruger the other day.
asked them why my serial number was not showing on their data base, gave them my serial number, told them i couldnt find the model number either, asked why Canada had a different model number.

Thank you for contacting Ruger Customer Service.
Your Customer Service Issue # is *********

Hi **********,

Please see the below link as a tool used for serial number lookup. It will provide the year of manufacture, model information and caliber as well as a link to the instruction manual. https://www.ruger.com/dataProcess/serialHistory/

Not all serials numbers (particularly ones shipped before records were kept electronically) are available via the lookup tool on our Website.

If you enter your serial number and do not find a matching result, you should be able to select a product line in the drop down box that appears to view its approximate first serial number shipped for the indicated year.

We've included the contact information for our Canadian repair center as a resource.

We hope this helps. Best regards,

Ruger Customer Service

tells me literally nothing.
its like they didn't even read the email i sent them.
i told them i couldn't find my serial number on the look up - they said to try the look up.
i told them i couldn't find my model number listed - they said look up my model number.
i could not be more underwhelmed with how horrible this example of customer service is.
its like the fella went out of his way to tell me to do the stuff i already told him i did.
and even funner - i cant even reply to this email they sent me, its a dead end email.
so i'm still as lost as ever, but now on top of that i'm ticked off because of how they replied.
