Hey guys,

Looking for a few opinions on this:

I picked up an RPR in 6.5 from a member a couple months back. Reported use was ~100 rounds. The rifle never it's factory box while in my possession.

Rifle was sold to another forum member who discovered damage to the crown when received the rifle. I had never noticed any damage, but also hadn't closely inspected.

Any ideas what could have caused this damage? Could you share photos of the condition of your crown?

Thanks!

It looks to me like the thread protector screwed on the barrel has the flats for a wrench. try removing it and see. as for the crud on the end no idea

Maybe it accidentally went off a few too many times with a solvent trap in place, that would cause a bunch of flash back gas heat. :p

To me that is just carbon/powder build up. As stated just clean it up. You can't even see the actual crown at this point. I would not be surprised to see it come off in chunks.

Seems like a lot of carbon for 100 rounds fired, might be best to refund the recent buyer and go after the guy who sold the rifle to you.

Here's mine with 160rounds through it

It looks pitted . as others said it looks like it has been damaged by heat. that section looks like a thread protector - an add on . see if Ruger will sell you another one. try to shoot it . it may very well not affect anything at all .
