P & D had a dozen or so of the new Ruger Precision Rifle come in today. Just could not resist. I think they were all gone in a few hours.

Feature wise it looks awesome. The trigger feels excellent. Factory setting was 2 lb 5 oz. It came with two 10 rd AI type metal magazines. I paid $80 a piece for the last ones I bought. I have tried my XCR-M 10 rd mags and they lock up fine. Also tried my 10 rd AIA M14 mags and they snap in just fine. Will have to do some testing to see how well they feed. Looks like the RPR will take single feed and staggered feed magazines. Very nice feature that I think Ruger has patented.

Very impressed with all the features you get for a $1500 (Can) or less precision rifle. If it shoots as well as the reviews have shown, then this truly is a game changer. Lots of nice extras. Build in rail with 20moa. Fully adjustable folding stock. It will probably not replace a PRS but it is lighter and seems to do the job. The Samson keymod rail is nice. Those are like $250 alone.

Look forward to taking it to the range.

I am interested in the barrel retention method and barrel/bolt lugging. If someone pulls theirs apart please post some pictures.

I am interested to know if a regular AR barrel will go on (may need extension to adapt) as this rifle uses the same barrel nut like an AR.

Also interested in total weight and weight of components like butt stock, barrel, etc.

These appear to be very solid Rifles for the price. People in the U.S. seem to be having very good luck with these rifles. For a new precision shooter, this is a great option.

I got a 243. The bolt face looks different than an ar so even though an ar barrel may fit, the bolt will probably not lock up properly. There are like 3 feed ramps to accommodate staggered and centre feed magazines. Looks quite interesting. The barrel is fairly heavy so it may perform well.

that is why I am looking for detailed pics, if an extension could be made to adapt and AR barrel, it would make barrel changes easy and very cost friendly

It does not look easy to put an AR10 type barrel onto the RPR. I took my rail off to take a peek.

The Samson rail is a standard rail that looks like DPMS AR10 rail. The one on the bottom is the one off the Ruger. They are using a collar cut in half for spacing. You get this when you remove the collar.

Looks like the barrel nut is a custom made one for the Ruger. It's not like the one for my large frame AR.

Feedramps look like this.

Magwell looks like this.

Ruger bolt next to a DPMS 308 BCG. The lugs are totally different.

Anyways, the seasoned gunsmiths can probably figure out a way to do an AR10 barrel swap but it don't look easy.

So I put it back together, mounted a scope and got the Ruger Precision Rifle ready to shoot.

Nightforce NSX 8-32x56 on an American Defense mount. Atlas bipod. That's it, no other extras to buy. Even the keymod lower rail was included with the rifle. Also came with a keymod QD sling mount to go with the QD mount on the stock. I have a pile of magazines that will likely work.

Now to find a good load. With a 7.7" twist, the 243 should handle the 105g bullets.

Damn, that looks sweet! Congrats big time! How is the trigger on it? Only thing kinda holding me back on these is no aftermarket triggers. Looking forward to the range review.

Here's a vid in the barrel retention system. :)
