I figured we have derailed the other Ruger thread(s) enough so I thought I'd start a new one to see who all has already put their money down on the new Ruger Precision Rifle, who is planning to, and who is just hanging back waiting to see if they really are as good as the seem to me.

Me, I put my money down on one in 6.5 Creedmoor last week when Wanstalls announced their pre-order. With any luck we'll see them by the end of August. I managed to find 3 boxes (3x50 pieces) of Horandy brass at WS today as well as a couple boxes of Hornady 140 gr. AMAX's. As I was already in the market for a precision rig and this is significantly cheaper than other guns I was looking at, I now have extra money to put into good glass, accessories and reloading equipment.

I'm leaning toward an RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme with Redding dies at this point, but I'm open to suggestions. Bipod will probably either be an Atlas or maybe a Harris if I end up over spending on reloading gear or glass... As far as glass goes, I'm leaning towards Nightforce right now. I really like everything that I have read about the Sightrons but my experiences doing low light shooting in a precision/tactical rifle course that I took a couple of years ago have given me a strong preference for scopes wit illuminated reticles as well as killer glass.

So who wants to go next?

I'm hanging back. I want to be able to touchy-feel first and hearing a few range reports from the field that don't come from professional writers. I'm actually going to buy the scope first, then the rifle if the production rifles lives up to the billing. Oh ya, I'm leaning towards the .243 Win.

I'll get one in 6.5 if my SU 16 predator sells. The only thing I would change is barrel length. From everything I've read barrel length has no effect to accuracy.

Ruger Precision Rifle ... Hmmmm... Isn't that a contradiction in terms?

Ok all jokes aside... It looks the part.
I'd like to hear how these rifles prove themselves out.

I have to say, the .243 had my interest as well. the cartridge seems to have a lot of long range potential in the hands of a skilled reloader.

What scope are you looking at getting?

I'd like to get the 308 but I want it with a 24" barrel, so will wait for a bit to see if that is an option later on. :(

Have has my eye out for a Sig SSG3000 but they are getting harder and harder to find...known accuracy with them..kinda think I may end up with one of these but would like to see some real world reviews as well..in this day and age its hard to believe reviews from some people/groups..need to hear it from the general public

I will be able to put the Ruger side by side with my SSG3000, should make a good comparaison since the SSG3000 is a very proven accurate tool... JP.

Purchased one in 6.5CM. Now on the hunt for RCBS dies and some brass. Looking forward to working up some effective loads.

Have just ordered a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T scope with a TMR reticle and M5 turrets.

Counting the days til it arrives.

I really would like a higher end scope like NightForce, US Optics, S&B, etc. ($$$$=ouch) but will probably end up with a Vortex Viper or Sightron SIII.
