Thinking of possibly picking up a .308 at some point. Thought I saw a thread somewhere not too long ago and I can't seem to find it now.
Or you can certainly post your thoughts here... seems like alot of rifle for the money.

I was thinking about getting into long range shooting, I'm torn between a savage 10 fcp or a ruger precision rifle. I saw a .308 ruger the other day at Winnipeg wholesale sports, I think the price is around $1600.

I have one in .308. I originally bought it with the intention of converting it to a 260 AI. On a whim I tried shooting it. That was a mistake. Now I changed my mind and I am going to keep this in .308. It shoots amazingly well for a factory rifle and if I get a 5 rd mag it can be my backup hunting rifle. This was probably my best purchase in 2015 and I bought a lot of guns last year.

Lol! Well that's encouraging.... online reviews are great. Biggest draw for me is 7075 machined billet upper and lower "halves" that accept AICS style STEEL mags also. And according to Brownells they have a 5 ROUND version! Of course I'm not the expert here hope I'm not wrong about that.
Thanks for the info guys.

Hey wildernessguy,

Though I haven't gotten to shoot one yet, the feedback I've gotten on the rifles has been very positive. You're right in saying that it is a lot of rifle for the money. If you are looking for one in the .308, we still have a few in stock. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call at 1-877-547-6873 and I would be happy to help you out.

Have any of you done some accuracy testing on it? Review like this one LINK have me worried. 1.5 MOA on a PRECISION rifle?

Most of the reviews have been of the 6.5. Only seen a couple of the .308 and one had VERY good accuracy (field and stream) and the other is the one linked had very poor accuracy.

You are getting a mass produced factory rifle so accuracy will likely be hit and miss from rifle to rifle.

Here are some of my load work up targets. It was a pretty windy day (I misread my kestrel it was 3 m/s not KPH) but the rifle still shot well. I am still working up an accurate load but I think the rifle has excellent potential. Sorry for the sideways target - Photobucket won't let me rotate them for some reason:

Well guys I have 150 rounds down my RPR in 6.5 creedmore and just love it,Nosler brass,Fed 210 M,RCBS dies.best group for 5 shots was with IMR4350,41.5 gr.with 142 SMKs-.58"
next was also 41.5 gr and 139 gr Lapua Senars -.63".
Tried Win.760 next with both bullets, from 40 to 43grs,rifle also shot best at 41.5 grs.go figure.both bullets were right at .7 to .8"
Temp was -2 no wind all shot at 100 yards.
today it was -9 and windy, best group was IMR 4350 and molly coated 139 Berger, fired 30 rounds all with 41.5 grs but 6 groups all with different OAL.2.880 to 2.800 best was 2.842"at .9"worst was 2.800 at 1.6"
Have had multiple 3 shots all touching or even better.
So far this rifle is great,it has potential. Now all I need is for warm weather and no wind so I can feel my trigger finger better.
Scope is a Vortex Viper 6.5 x 20x50
Great rifle for the money.

6.5 Creedmoor, I'm using Lapua brass(fire formed 22-250), 140 berger vld hunting bullets(loaded to max the mag will allow), federal 210 primers, and 42grs of H4350....just testing right now but today my groups were .691, .618, and .560 in that order @ 100yards. I don't like the trigger, way to much creep. only about 40rounds down the tube so far.
I think this will be a fun gun. :)
