I have an opportunity to purchase a ruger precision with a bull barrel in 22wmr. Just curious on people's opinions, looking for something fun to shoot at moderate distances.
Thanks Irish

I'd consider how much you want to shoot . . . and the cost of WMR vs 22LR. They are nice mid-priced rifles. I went with CZ 22LRs - still glad. If you plan 'varmint hunting' the WMR might be the way to go.

I had one in the 22 mag. I thought it would be neat to have but found it just wasn't my style of rifle. I prefer the wood stock rifles as I found the stock was clumsy and hard to handle for walking around. I tried a number of ammo and it wasn't as accurate as I was hopping for being a Ruger Precision. Ended up with a CZ instead with the more traditional style rifle. This rifle just might work for you.

If you want to get into precision rimfire you need to think about looking at match ammo. What would be the point of going to a magnum if you are going to be shooting subsonic.
I personally am new to the precision rimfire so not an expert by any stretch of the imagination.
Maybe someone that actually competes in Precision rimfire can chime in and give you some pointers.

Expensive ammo, generally not as accurate as the regular LR version. If you're not actually going to hunt with it, where the added velocity makes sense, I wouldn't. - dan

I really considered one of those in 22WMR, but after a little research wondered why I couldn't find a single review that reported good accuracy. 22WMR isn't inherently accurate in my own experience but some rifles are thought to be better than others.

my RPR in 22WMR loves CCI Gamepoint 40 grain. Effortlessly under 1" at 100 yards, with a couple .75" at 100 yards. It was ripping the jackets when new, but after 200 rounds and good cleaning it turned into a tack driver.

(edit) random flyer around 1 in 15 rounds about 4 inch from point of aim usually high to the right.

Borescope the barrel, no problems found.

I have confidence with head shots out to 150 yards.

Over all I am disappointed in mine.
My biggest issue is the rear stock. It has flex in it.
If they had used metal over polymer it would be a different rifle all together.

I found the same. I set up the rifle as how I wanted it. Overkill. In many ways. Never shot it tho so I can’t speak to its performance. Did a T1x build instead.
