Ruger PRS barrel change

A good barrel vice and quality barrel nut wrench, I put force on the wrench and then gave the handle a smack with a hammer, also helps to make a reference line on the barrel, nut and receiver so you can see if anything turned, mine the receiver turned with the nut after it broke loose so I had to clamp the receiver to finish loosening it.

Yes Dave and we have also seen this link, passed on to John M. and provided him with AR kit at Range yesterday.

Talk soon and thanks to MrSharp.

Hi Peter,

The AR nut retainer on the base of the reciever is often overlooked; make sure this is off as well. I've done several swaps on RPR's, and yes, they're all tight. The AR nut only has to back off a couple degrees and the whole thing will break loose. A good soak of the nut & barrel thread in Mouse Milk or Jigaloo will really help; seems QC at Ruger doesn't include cleaning the threads....
I had to use a 24" torque extension on an AR armourers wrench for most of the nuts. For the barrel vice, I used a hardwood block in a 75lb bessy bench vice.
