Hey all I recently purchased a new Ruger Ranch rifle. Figured I might as well take advantage of my AR mags and all that 223 ammo gathering dust since the ban on our AR's by Justolf !
I have a couple questions....
-- Whats everyone using as a threaded muzzle suppressor , and where was it ordered from ?
-- I am also looking at a Bushnell AR scope (its in my budget). Thoughts ? or recommendations on an alternative pocket friendly scope ?
 
The muzzle threading is a nice to have on a bolt action, but really unnecessary in the grand scheme. Tacticool flash suppressors and devices are really good to keep the muzzles down and enable very quick target reacquisition. Bolt actions require many extra steps to reload and a fast followup is many seconds apart rather than a second apart. Screw in a left-over AR15 birdcage and forget it from then on.

Scopes are always a personal choice. Think about the trajectory of your 55gr FMJ bulk box blaster ammo and the length of your available range or shooting place. There is no point investing $$$ for a 10x to 24x 1/8th minute click precision scope when you ammo is 2 MOA circular impact. Therefore, just about any well-made repeatable scope with good glass will do just fine.

But .... an AR-matched scope is a great choice. The graticle and optics will probably do just fine.

There's a ton of good information in this thread. In posts #68 and #120, I've listed some accuracy testing groups as well. There's not a firearm on market that doesn't have it's naysayers, including the Ruger American Ranch. I usually just ignore these comments and go by my own experience. In this case, I'm totally happy with my RAR. Go out and shoot and enjoy your new purchase.

I tried a RAR. It shot amazingly well, very accurate for an out of the box rifle. However the finish was very rough, and the longish AR mag got in the way sometimes when coyote hunting, not a huge deal but it didn’t work for me. I didn’t find any need for a muzzle device and left it as is. I was running a Nikon P tactical on it as a budget option. It would not shoot a box exceptionally well, but given the clearance price of $225 when I bought it, I didn’t expect much. I found the hashmarked reticle more useful for field shooting to me. Most of the time where I coyote hunt if you have a really long shot opportunity , you might be running into safety issues with a neighbouring structure so often they get passed on. But at the range I wasn’t super impressed. Bright and clear enough though. Point being that the bushnell being in a similar price point may experience similar issues? If it’s a range toy your probably just fine, most bushnells in the 3200 class are pretty reliable. If you don’t need a scope with target turrets I’d take a look at a Burris E1. They are pretty rock solid for the price. The 4-16 goes on sale for $300 pretty often and has side parallax adjustment, Burris will also cut you an elevation turret if you want one. The 3x9’s E1’s I’ve shot on some heavy recoiling guns and never had an issue.
